The Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), Bangladesh’s maiden mobile film fiesta, has launched its official website on July 26. Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque, Vice Chancellor of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), inaugurated the website (www.dimff.net) at a ceremony at ULAB.
DIMFF is the country’s first ever mobile film festival which was formerly known as CinemaScope Mobile Film Competition. CinemaScope, a film apprenticeship programme of Media Studies and Journalism department at ULAB, has organised the festival for four times.
The fifth edition of the festival will take place on 15-16 February 2019. Submission of films is now open, and deadline of the film submission is September 16 this year. Films can be submitted into three different categories — screening category, which is open for all; competition category, which is only for university students; and 1-minute film, which is introduced first time this year only for students ranging from grade 1 to 12. The newly-launched website will help filmmakers get any kind of information regarding the festival. They can even submit their works through the website.
Members of DIMFF executive committee said they had long been thinking about building a website for the festival taking into consideration the competition’s growing popularity among participants both at home and abroad. Cinemascope adviser Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, also an assistant professor of MSJ, and members of different clubs and apprenticeship programmes at ULAB, were present at the launching ceremony. For further details, the organisers requested the aspiring filmmakers to email them at [email protected] or visit their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ULABCinemaScope.
