The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a program called ‘ULABians Forever’ on September 19, 2019 at its Campus B seminar room.
The program was arranged for the students who successfully presented their internship report and eventually graduated from the department, Summer Semester 2019. The main purpose of the program was to give a warm farewell to the fresh graduates and to invite them to join the ULAB MSJ Alumni.
The program that started at 6:30 pm was hosted by ULAB’s very own public relations-based apprenticeship program, PR4U. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Jude William R. Genilo, the head of the department, and other faculty members and students.
The program kicked off with the handover of the internship certificates to the graduates, by the head of the department. Later Dr. Genilo gave a warm speech congratulating the students.
“Though you are graduating, the relation you have with us will not end, the relation you have with us will continue. The relation, however, has changed; you are no longer students but alumni now.”
Next, the faculties expressed their best wishes and advices for the graduates to embark on a new journey. This was followed by Dr. Genilo administering the graduation oath with the graduates.
Three representatives: Ryan MushfiqurKhan, Fuad Hoque and Sanjida Yasmin among the fresh graduates were chosen next, to carry out further communication with the department.
This was followed by a reminiscing session, where graduates shared their thoughts and experiences about the university, their department, and the faculty. They expressed their gratitude to their faculty members for the guidance and also shared how they hope to stay in touch with everyone.
The last segment of the event was entertainment, where ULAB’s campus band, ‘Chalk & Cheese’ along with Lecturer Wafi Aziz Sattar rendered several songs for the students. This marked a happy end to the program with everyone’s best regards and wishes.
